SVS meetings are typically held in the evening on the second Wednesday of the month at rotating locations around the section. Any meeting that is moved from this standard date is indicated in red. Information is added and edited monthly, so check the site often!

20 September 2023 - 7:00 pm at Bucknell University Third Wednesday in September: The meeting will feature Hasan Arslan, Ph. D, from Bucknell University. The title of the evening's talk will be "Switchable host-guest interactions of cationic macrocycles." The lecture will be preceded by a dinner at 6:00. Get details.
18 October 2023 - 7:00 pm at Wilkes University Third Wednesday in October: The Henry J. and Linda C. Pownall Lecture will feature Dr. Ann Valentine, Professor of Chemistry at Temple University, who will present a talk titled "Exploring a Role for Titanium in Biochemistry. " The lecture will be preceeded by a reception and dinner at 5:00. Get details.
8 November 2023 - 7:00 pm at Lycoming College: The meeting will feature Mallory Melton, Ph. D, Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology at Lycoming College. The title of the evening's talk will be "The Modern Science of Ancient Food: Advances in the Analysis of Starches and Phytoliths from Archaeological Contexts in the Americas." 10 April 2024 - University of Scranton: The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM in the Loyola Science Center (LSC), room 439 and will be preceded by a dinner at 5:30 PM at Trax Bar and Kitchen. The speaker, R. Joseph Lastowski of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign will deliver a talk entitled “Challenging Long-Held Views in Chemistry: Surprising New Discoveries about Chemical Bonds.” Get details.

1 May 2024 - Annual Awards Banquet at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville: With the presentation of various local section awards, the Annual Awards Banquet recognizes both aspiring and accomplished chemistry professionals in the area who have helped to promote chemistry, the chemical professions, and the section. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM and the event will also feature our guest speaker Jaime Jurado who will deliver an interactive lecture / tasting Entitled "Inquiry-based Physical Chemistry: Observable Sensory Experiments with Chocolate and lessons from the great chocolatiers".
