SVS meetings are typically held in the evening on the second Wednesday of the month at rotating locations around the section. Any meeting that is moved from this standard date is indicated in red. Information is added and edited monthly, so check the site often!

14 September 2022 - Bucknell University: September meeting postponed to Feberuary 15 due to COVID issues
19 October 2022 - 7:00 pm at Wilkes University Third Wednesday in October : The Henry J. and Linda C. Pownall Lecture will feature Dr. David Yaron, Professor of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University, who will present a talk titled "Using Machine Learning to Improve Quantum Chemistry and to Advance Student Learning " The lecture will be preceeded by a reception and dinner at 5:00. 9 November 2022 - 7:00 pm at Lycoming College: The meeting will feature Kelley Caflin, Ph. D, from the US Army's Explosives Research Branch. The title of the evening's talk will be "Principal Components Analysis for Green Process Development." The lecture will be preceded by a dinner at 5:00. Get details.
15 February 2023 - Bucknell University: The meeting will feature a presentation by our invited speaker and will be preceded by a social hour and dinner at 6:00. The guest speaker will be Miriam Freedman, Ph.D., Professor of Chemistry and Associate Department Head for Climate and Diversity at Penn State University, who will present a talk titled "Phase transitions, ice nucleation, and acidity of atmospheric aerosol particles." 12 April 2023 - King's College : The meeting will feature a presentation by our invited speaker and will be preceded by dinner. The guest speaker will be Monica McCallum, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and the title of the evening's talk will be "Making Molecules from Microbes." Tuesday 2 May 2023 - [Annual Awards Banquet] at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville: With the presentation of various local section awards, the Annual Awards Banquet recognizes both aspiring and accomplished chemistry professionals in the area who have helped to promote chemistry, the chemical professions, and the section. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM and the guest speaker will be Dr. Matthew Polinski of the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering and Physics at Commonwealth University, Bloomsburg who will present a talk titled "Squaring Up the f-Block."
