SVS meetings are typically held in the evening on the second Wednesday of the month at rotating locations around the section. Any meeting that is moved from this standard date is indicated in red. Information is added and edited monthly, so check the site often!

18 September 2024 - 7:00 pm at Bucknell University Third Wednesday in September: The meeting will feature Dr. Kara L. Bren from the Department of Chemistry, University of Rochester. The title of the evening's talk will be "Bioinorganic systems for artificial photosynthesis." The lecture will be preceded by a dinner at 6:00 p.m. Get details.
16 October 2024 - 7:00 pm at Wilkes University Third Wednesday in October: The Catherine Bone Lecture will feature Dr. Nancy Levinger, Professor of Chemistry at Colorado State University, who will present a talk titled "Save the Plants! Visualizing Cryoprotectant Permeation and Location Confined in Plant Cells and Tissues" The lecture will be preceded by a reception and dinner at 5:00 p.m. Get details.
13 November 2024 - 7:00 pm at Lycoming College: The meeting will feature Julien Panetier, The State University of New York at Binghamton, who will present a lecture entitled "Understanding the Electronic Structure and Reactivity of Carbon Monoxide Dehydrogenase Model Systems for CO2 Reduction." 7 May 2025 - Annual Awards Banquet at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville: With the presentation of various local section awards, the Annual Awards Banquet recognizes both aspiring and accomplished chemistry professionals in the area who have helped to promote chemistry, the chemical professions, and the section. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM and the event will also feature our guest speaker Roger Turner, Curator of Instruments and Artifacts at the Science History Institute, who will deliver a lecture entitled "Solving the Puzzle of the Rare Earth Elements".
