SVS meetings are typically held in the evening on the second Wednesday of the month at rotating locations around the section. Any meeting that is moved from this standard date is indicated in red. Information is added and edited monthly, so check the site often!

18 September 2025 - at Bucknell University on the Third Thursday in September at 7:00 p.m. The speaker will be Professor Sarah Smith of the Chemistry Department at Bucknell University who will present a lecture entiled "Understanding the Role of Sequence and Structure in the Function and Design of Antimicrobial Peptides." The lecture will be preceded by a dinner at 6:00 p.m. Get details.
22 October 2025 - at Wilkes University on the Fourth Wednesday in October: The Pownall Lecture will feature will feature Dr. Jessica Larsen, the Carol and John Cromer ’63 Family Endowed Associate Professor at Clemson University, who will present a talk titled "Leveraging Chemistry to Overcome Biologic Barriers in Neurologic Disease Treatment" The lecture will be preceded by a reception and dinner at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. respectively. 12 November 2025 - at Lycoming College: The meeting will feature Sydney Bachman of Stellant Systems, who will present a lecture entitled "Chemistry at Stellant Systems." The lecture will be preceded by a dinner at 5:00 p.m.

15 April 2026 - Wilkes University: The Catherine Bone Lecture will feature Jennifer Heemstra of the Department of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis, who will present a talk entitled "Tracking the Edits That Rewrite the RNA Code." The lecture will be preceded by a reception (4:30 p.m.) and dinner (5:30 p.m.). Get details.

6 May 2026 - Annual Awards Banquet at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville: With the presentation of various local section awards, the Annual Awards Banquet recognizes both aspiring and accomplished chemistry professionals in the area who have helped to promote chemistry, the chemical professions, and the section. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will also feature our guest speaker Dr. Jeanne Berk, a scientist and educator at Cedar Crest College, who will deliver a lecture entitled "The Chemistry of Cheese".
